Emirates: A Unique Flying Adventure
Today we flew Emirates First Class from Dubai to LA. Then Alaska to Seattle. On the way to the airport in Dubai this morning, our taxi driver asked us what class we were in for our Emirates flight. When we said First Class, he took us to a special airport entrance for Emirates First and Business Class. We only had to walk a few steps to the First-Class counter where they took our bags and sent us to the First-Class lounge. We have traveled in First Class many times. We have never paid for it, we always use points, just like on these flights. But we have never experienced a First Class like Emirates! The lounge was huge! It had a full restaurant, multiple bars, showers, a spa and anything you could possibly need. It even had a Tiffiany shop right in the First-Class lounge! As if I needed that. Luckily, Liz walked right by as I hoped she would. That’s my girl! When it was time to board our flight, we went directly from the First-Class lounge though a special gangway directly into the door to First Class on the upper level of the Airbus double-floor 380. It was amazing to see how easy the rich people have it. Our First-Class suites, yes, a small “room” with electric sliding doors to close everything out, were amazing! The food, drinks and service was impeccable. And the huge First-Class bathrooms complete with showers were awesome! There is no better way to soften a 16-hour flight then a shower two hours before you land like we had!
This around-the-world trip has been absolutely wonderful. When we get home, we will have traveled 31,535 miles over 35 days. We are almost out of air miles, so we won’t be able to do anything like this trip again. It was truly once in a lifetime. We are looking forward to spending more time at home, with our family, with Lincoln, and on our boat in the future.
